THE CONSULTATION

The complimentary consultation is an opportunity for us to discuss a vision of what you hope to capture in the photographs – whether it’s a casual session at home, a formal portrait in the studio or a Day-in-the-Life or Year-in-the-Life package. Will you display your photographs on the wall or in a custom album? We will explore ideas and discuss background, clothing and time of day for the session. The consultation is preferrably done in person, but can also be done by phone or email.

THE PHOTO SESSION

Allow at least one hour for a studio session and two hours for a photo session at home or on location. Working with babies and children requires patience, and providing a relaxed atmosphere will ensure sufficient time to catch the priceless moments and special expressions that create lasting memories. Creative fees are $200 for a studio session and $300 for a location session. All sessions are by appointment only.

THE VIEWING/ORDERING SESSION

The viewing and ordering session is where you will see your photos for the first time and place your order. About a week or two after the photo shoot, you will  have a private viewing at the studio. It will begin with a slide show set to music. Next, we'll view the images separately and I'll help guide you through the process and share my vision and suggestions with you. Prints, custom albums and coffee table books are available. Please see Contact page to request a detailed price list.

 

Packages for Day-in-the-life or Year-in-the-Life sessions include the creative fees, viewing session, prints, album, proof book and a CD of your gallery photos. Throughout my 30-year career as a photojournalist, my specialty has been capturing fleeting moments, and these packages allow me to do that by spending time with each subject as they go about their daily lives. The result is a unique documentary set of images, full of candid moments at bath time, cuddling with grandma or even napping. Archival prints are hand-assembled in a custom-designed matted album for Day in the Life packages, and Year in the Life packages include a custom-designed, high quality Asuka coffee table book .

Gift certificates make a unique and thoughtful gift and are available for any service ranging from a one-hour studio session, to a location shoot or a Day-in-the-Life/Year-in-the-Life package.

RETAINER

A non-refundable retainer of 50% of the creative fee is required to insure that a specific time slot is reserved for you. The balance will be due at the time of the photo session. In case of illness or other emergency, you must notify Jean Shifrin Photography as soon as possible to apply your retainer to a future date. If you do not arrange to reschedule your appointment, you will forfeit your retainer.

Retainers for outdoor sessions that need to be rescheduled due to inclement weather will be applied to the rescheduled date.

PRINTS

Print orders will be placed at the Viewing/Ordering Session. Print packages, featuring the most popular combination of print sizes - as well as individual prints - are available.

To insure the highest quality, each print is custom processed by hand, which includes toning, color balancing, conversion to black & white or sepia , custom cropping and minor retouching.

Jean Shifrin Photography offers fine-art archival prints and canvases, as well as traditional photographic and metallic finish prints. Color, black & white and sepia tone are available for any image. Recently added are rice paper prints, which have a unique, soft quality.

Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for your print order to be completed. The size of your order and the time of year may affect the length of time it takes to complete your order. Due to the custom nature of the product, 50% of the payment is required when your order is placed. The balance is due upon delivery. Payment can be made with cash, check or credit card.

ALBUMS

Jean Shifrin Photography offers several presentation choices -  the 5 x7 Session Album, an 8x8, 10x10 or 10x13 matted Children's Album and an 8 x 8 or 10 x 10 Asuka book. The Session Album holds 20 or 30 5 x7 prints, one to a page. The Children's Album is a custom-designed matted photo album, with a personalized cover. Each album is hand-assembled and comes with 12, 24, 28 or 40pages. The Asuka books are a high quality coffee table book with a varnish or protective laminate coating on each page. The books include a printed book jacket and personalized red or black slipcover case. Samples are available for viewing.
